So, a couple of other Geo-types and a third friend of theirs (though Canadian
the whole lot, rather good guys) bought the Ranger 23 in the slip over from
my boat. It's been great having the extra boat available, and since none of
the three had sailed before going out with me, means even more float-time.
Now Adam, Steve (Martine), and Casey are regulars at MSI as well.
The boat is a Ranger 23' from the mid to late seventies. It's a mini-sloop
by all accounts despite it's length, so it's very stable and seaworthy. We've
had it out in just shy 30 knots now and she's still plenty capable. No
dinghy this one. The boat was designed here in the bay, and one of here famous
sisters was the venerable Dove wich carried the 18 year old Robin Lee Graham
around the world alone (detailed in National Geographic and the movie The Dove.
21 November, 2002: Ranger sold. Adam and his lady are movin up.
