SAMPLING IN VELOCITY DOMAIN

Velocity domain can be sampled evenly in velocity, velocity squared (alacrity), slowness or slowness squared (sloth). The aim of this section is to compare them from the point of view of inversion.

When equation (6) or equation (7) are being solved, the invertibility of the operator ${\bf HH^T}$ or ${\bf P^TP}$ is important. If we want to invert a velocity stack (equation (11)) or its modification (equation (12)), then we are interested in the invertibility of the operator ${\bf H^TH}$ or ${\bf PP^T}$.
