Do you know where the bread on your sandwich comes from? What about that
salad you eat for lunch every day? These and many other things
come from plants. For thousands of years humans have oppressed
the plant kingdom - raising helpless plants from seed to flower,
with the intent to kill them - solely to sate the gluttonous
urges of stomach and palate! When will this madness stop? NOW! Who is
willing to take the actions necessary to free all plants from tyranny?
GETOFF, that's who!
Plant Oppression Around the World
As we speak, winter wheat is being harvested in North America: huge
combines sweep across the plains, murdering billions of jailed
plants with ruthless efficiency, while the mothers of
this country blindly pack P,B,& J on Wonder Bread in those
brown bags every morning.
In Latin America, advances in genetic engineering have made it possible to
clone banana trees with "favorable" genetic characteristics. Who will
protect the "unfavorable" bananas? How can we tolerate a systematic
genetic cleansing of the banana population? Just because a tree has
small bananas doesn't mean it should be denied its right to bear fruit.
And does not the cloning of these trees completely strip them of all
dignity, of all individuality, of the essence of their very
existence?
The list goes on and on...
So the next time you pop a juicy Shitake mushroom in your mouth, remember
that plants have rights too!
