In this section, we perform anisotropic migration velocity analysis on
real data and demonstrate the validity of our estimation method, by
showing it indicates the presence of anellipticity in layers
stratigraphically interpreted as anisotropic and for which well data
do not match seismic data migrated under the assumption of isotropy.
We first present the geologic setting and imaging challenges of the
Alwyn field, where the data set was acquired. We then compute
anisotropic velocity spectra.
