Random numbers into the seismic spectral band

Figure 6 shows synthetic data designed to look like real seismic noise.

Here some Gaussian random numbers were passed into a filter to simulate the seismic passband. Two five-term Butterworth filters (see chapter ) were used, a highcut at .4 of the Nyquist and a lowcut at .1 of the Nyquist.
