AVO TECHNIQUES

Recent developments in acquisition technology make it possible to record data directly at the seafloor by using ocean-bottom seismometers (OBS) and ocean-bottom hydrophones (OBH). This acquisition technique leaves the receiver fixed on the seafloor while the ship moves with the source or leaves the source fixed and moves the receivers. The near sea-bottom properties can be determined by means of either the pressure and vertical particle velocity or the vertical and radial particle velocity.
