ANTIALIASING

The operator aliasing problem, as opposed to data aliasing and image aliasing, is discussed in detail by Lumley et al. 1994. It arises when the slope of the operator traveltime exceeds the limit, defined by the time and space sampling of the data (the Nyquist frequencies) Claerbout (1992a). Even if the input data are not aliased, operator aliasing can cause severe distortions in the output. Several successful techniques have been proposed in the literature to overcome the operator aliasing problem. SEP' s favorite invention is local triangle filtering Bevc and Claerbout (1992, 1993); Bevc and Lumley (1994); Claerbout (1992a); Lumley et al. (1994), which has been extensively tested on 2-D and 3-D migration, DMO Blondel (1993), and wave-equation datuming (). A different approach to antialiasing is suggested by Hale 1991 for the integral dip moveout. In this paper, we reformulate the main principle of Hale's approach to design an efficient antialiasing technique, alternative to triangle filtering.
