Interferometry, Hessian-based inversions, and even 3-D surface related multiple attenuation, are, or soon will be, read-dominant. One can envision a future where raw data sits on an EcoRAM -like system and all processing steps are carried out on the fly, eliminating the need for the multitude of intermediate data volumes that are now common.
