Assumptions

All seismic processing depends on the processing steps already performed on the data (preprocessing). In the case of the inversion I demonstrate in this thesis, the preprocessing includes velocity analysis. This means that for the datasets I will be dealing with, I assume the velocity model of the subsurface is correct. The regularized inversion method I am presenting is not intended as a tool for velocity estimation.
