GEE will in the future will be publicly named GIEE.
11/1/2013
With a goal to flipping my class, I begin video narrating book sections with a goal to complete GEE entirely before March 15, 2014. Narrations are publicly available here.

Improved whiteness proof in chapter 4.
4/4/13
GEE split into two parts, one includes everything, the other is limited to materials used in classes.
12/12/10
A new copy of GEE was loaded. Better fonts with programs. Additions to chapter "noiz", robust solutions. Chinese version of FGDP installed. Hooray!
11/11/10
A new copy of BEI was loaded. Better fonts with programs.
2/5/10
I've succeeded to rebuild GEE with the new LaTeX to PDF procedure. Now I'm getting the right fonts for the codes. Hooray! I'm working hard on switching over from IRLS to HYCD (Hyperbolic Hybrid Conjugate Directions) in chapter noiz.   ps-->PDF compression is still making a mess of some figures.
12/12/09
I am struggling with a new LaTeX to PDF build procedure. Right now some of the fonts are pretty ugly in BEI and GEE. If you are planning to print those books, better to wait until I get this fixed.
12/12/09
Russian and Chinese versions now available on the web.
8/21/08
BEI rebuilt but unfortunately, ps to pdf compression is making a mess of many figures. Argh! Maybe I should reinstall the old version.
2/21/08
PVI and FGDP gain more screen friendly forms. Book features tabulated on index page. Goal to scan Russian and Chinese versions.
1/21/08
Free figures (all 992 of them) from all my books (since 1976!), I now lay out for you to copy. Enjoy!
7/14/06
A missing page in IEI has been restored. It is page 289. Thanks to Charlie Fortner finding this.
2/06
I rebuild GEE. Several new figures and examples resulting from work with Antoine Guitton.
9/05
I rebuild BEI with a few new examples.
3/23/04
I rebuild the newly revised IMAGE ESTIMATION BY EXAMPLE pdf file (50 Mb!). About 30 pages of revisions and new examples, especially Madagascar and Galilee, analytic solutions for Vesuvius.
3/23/04
I build a PDF file for the old book Earth Soundings Analysis: Processing versus Inversion.
3/1/01
I rebuild the Waves lectures. (Some of the figures did not convert properly from ps to gif.)
12/12/00
I rebuild BEI. About 15% of it has changed since late '97 version. I rebuild GEE. About 20% of it has changed since previous version. Some illustrations are "blink movies" implemented in Javascript for the html versions of the books.
08/20/99-
I am unable to work for about a year because of tragedy in my life.
4/7/99
An INDEX for all books! More correctly, it is a search engine. This makes it MUCH easier for people to find things. Enjoy! (Thanks to Sergey Fomel.)
11/16/98
Scanned version of the original IEI is now available as .pdf files. The electronic revision was only about 80% completed and never proofed or edited.
11/9/98
Wrote some career advice for students.
10/20/98
Rebuilt PVI after repairing some software decay that had set in on upgrading to latex2e, ratfor90, make rules, and postscript. Also, some NR figures were restored from CD-ROM and two missing chapters reinstalled.
4/1/98
GEM is renamed GEE, (Geophysical Estimation by Example). Sergey Fomel's Fortran 90 library now computes (almost) all illustrations. Helix based code now used in all areas.
1/20/98
Book mailing list now confidential (to frustrate spammers).
12/20/97
I integrated my helix concepts with GEM in preparation for winter '97-'98 class. http://sep.stanford.edu/sep/prof/gee/hlx/paper_html/node1.html
10/9/97
Sergey Fomel and Hector Urdaneta make all my books available in html using latex2html.
1/7/97
Released first version of GEM (Geophysics Exploration Mapping). It is an extensive revision of lecture notes formerly entitled ``Three Dimensional Filtering''. Added .dvi.gz files for quicker previewing.
3/8/96
Books now available in Europe at Edinburgh mirror.
1/31/96
My first book, FGDP Chapters 1-9 of the original 11, is newly available on the web. Hooray!
1/31/96
My second book, IEI, was rebuilt with about 50 newly rebuilt figures replacing the earlier scanned figures.
1/31/96
I organized two kinds of compression for all books. You can now choose from more file types.
8/8/95
Troubles? See downloading tips.
4/24/95
I put DVI files on web for BEI and IEI. These are much smaller but have no figures. UNIX people who have xdvi might like DVI files for previewing.
3/7/95
I compressed all the files so transmission should be 3-6 times faster. I find Mosaic decompresses properly but Netscape does not. What you get depends not on me, but who configured your browser and what they included. Good luck!
2/14/95
Another of my books, Basic Earth Imaging (BEI) with Jim Black, 180 pages, is now available for download.
10/94
Thanks to help from Martin Karrenbach, I open for business with free books, TDF and PVI.
