The High Sierra: Peaks, Passes, and Trails

By R.J. Secor. The High Sierra hiking/climbing guidebook. Amazingly exhaustive. An indispensible trip planning aid.

Wonder why the image quality is so bad here? It's because I scanned these images directly from a 8x10 contact sheet, at 600 dots per inch. In any event, Kim and I took a short backpacking trip to the Ragged Peak area with Howard Hicks and Steve Farrell in early July of 1999. Mosquitoes dominate my memory of the area, though it is quite nice later in the season. Short trip report
