Morgan near the top of the north arete of Tresidder Peak. As you can see, we were foiled about 15 feet from the absolute summit. The photo lacks the appropriate depth of field, because I wasn't safely able to climb the route to my right without jumping 5 feet or so laterally.

Here is some information regarding the peak offered by "snwburd" on the Yahoo! Sierra Scrambles club:

"Up high on Matthes, we could look over and see lots of interesting peaks.

Monty asked me about one in particular that looked like a nice climb. I wasn't

sure at the time, but I thought it was Tresidder Peak. Turned out I was right.

I didn't have it in my "secor" section because I hadn't climbed it yet, and it

wasn't on the PCS list. Sounds like you were doing a pretty tough scramble, as

it's class 4. Here's Secor's description:

  Tresidder Peak (10,600 ft+)

The south summmit is the high point, and the south arete is class 4.

The north arete, also class 4, was first climbed July 4, 1966, by

Bruce Kinnison, Alan Zetterberg, and Pierre Zetterberg.

This area has the most class 4-5 peaks easily accessible from a road of any

area I know in the Sierras. It was an earlier visit to this area that got me

interested in rock climbing. 'So many peaks, if only I had a rope....'"
