Climber's Guide to Glacier National Park

By J. Gordon Edwards. Excellent guidebook--exhaustive and detailed, yet concise. Also the only guidebook, making it a must-buy. Make sure you buy the 1995 edition.

Kim, Robert, and I climbed Going-to-the-Sun Mountain and Matahpi peak on the last hiking day of our trip. It was a long day; 5000 feet of vertical gain, mostly cross-country. We did the diagonal chute variation of the west face of Going-to-the-Sun. The route provided much class 3 scrambling, with a bit of class 4 near the top.
