View to South from 8300' ridge SW of Burstall Pass. Mount Sir Douglas is that mind-blowing 11,000'+ monolith on the left. The limestone has eroded into concentric flaking shells, very reminiscent of the granite domes of Yosemite. Mount Sir Douglas's east ridge is a similarly smooth, massive 60-degree slab. I believe it is named the "Burstall Wall", and has some classic alpine climbing. On the right of this photo is Palliser Pass, and the mountains of British Columbia beyond. |
