Overview map of west face of Shady Rock, one of my favorite spots in Castle Rock State Park. Slot Nose, the easiest route on the rock at 5.8, is made a little more interesting by the 5.8+ left variation. This route shares an anchor with 5.10a Special Effects, which seems easier than that. I believe the true route goes a bit right of the obvious, chalk-lined hand crack, but I won't know until I lead it.
