Castle Rock State Park is basically the destination for climbers, and
especially boulderers, in our area. A mecca it is not, with (to my knowledge)
not a single multipitch climb. However, there is a good variety of easily
accessible routes on high-quality and interesting marine sandstone.

On to the Images...
Summit Rock - Actually located in Sanborn/Skyline County Park, this crag supports a
large number of medium-length sport climbs on surprisingly variable terrain. From caves, to
chimneys, to crimpers, to cracks, you'll find it all here.
Shady Rock - To date, my favorite little spot in CRSP. On the five or six times I've
visited Shady Rock, we've only had to share the rock (four anchors, 10 routes) with another party
on one occasion. Every time another climbing party passes by on their way to Castle Rock Falls,
they remark on how cool Shady Rock looks. The routes are clean, interesting, and varied.
Goat Rock - Perhaps the most popular destination in CRSP for climbers, owing to the
ease and long length of many of the routes, as well as the great views to the south and west.
If you go to Goat, go early, because you'll have company, especially on weekends.
Mount Doom - The "Doom" most accurately describes the approach to
this cool rock; the climbing and views are quite enjoyable. Mount Doom boasts a long 5.7 trad
climb, Slab Route.
