Lamarck Col is the notch with the tongue of snow reaching almost all the way to the crest, in the center of the photo. The climb to the Col involved only 150 feet of climbing on snow to the crest (early August in a big snow year). Our ice axes hung useless and heavy for the remainder of the trip.
