Fall fun in VermontApple picking is a fall treat, and we made gallons of sauce and piles of pies. Amy found that the easiest way to pick was riding around on the mobile picker. While dad was visiting we volunteered to work at the harvest festival at Shelburne Farms. We worked at the corn cakes booth, where kids ground corn by hand, mixed the meal with some water and honey, and then we cooked them on a piece of slate on a fire. The cakes were real tooth busters, but amazingly the kids ate them all up! (Click on any picture to enlarge it.) |
