Model-Based 3-D Object Recognition
computes basis images (SVD of a l ibrary of images)
computes crossproduct with acquired data
decides if the acquired data fits model and what direction it has.

A recently developed object based machine vision algorithm creates the need to solve the
N-Dimensional Direction of Arrival (ND-DOA) problem. In the N-D DOA problem we seek to find the
spatial frequency components of a complex exponential plane wave from samples collected by a N-D
lattice of sensors.

pretty good. unfortunately not in optimization terms
but optimal control and detection and estimation.
