2-D seismology lets us image simple geologic structure and faults. 3-D seismology allows us to see more intricate features such as buried river channel meanders and complex deformation around salt intrusions.
But with 4-D seismology, I can show you fluid flowing in the Earth! You can see before and after views at a steam injection site in both cross-sectional profile and depth-slice map view .
