Future research

The parameters used in GB computation and the maximum number of rays needed to approximate a point source wavefield should be interrelated. Future research should determine these parameters for efficient computation. In addition, more work is needed to demonstrate the application of Gaussian beams to image complex geological models, such as salt domes. And in general, more work is needed to realize the wide potential of prestack Gaussian beam migration.
