Conclusion

With appropriate choice of reference model, model-space weighting functions based on equation ([*]) provide a robust way to compensate for illumination problems during recursive (finite-frequency) depth migration. Data-space weights can also be calculated either to work alone, or in consort with model-space weights. However, for the overdetermined example described here, they are less robust to errors caused by inadequate forward modeling.
