In this section, I describe the results of the 2-D inversion for P- and S-impedance contrasts of the data from the Blake Outer Ridge. Then I focus singularly on the reflection corresponding to the bottom simulating reflector (BSR) and evaluate its amplitudes locally. This minimizes the errors that might have been introduced into the 2-D inversion by uncorrected residual moveout and yields good insight into the lateral and vertical elastic property variations at the transition from hydrate-bearing sediments to the sediments beneath.
