Attenuation of the ship tracks

We are now half way to a noise-free image. As seen in Figure [*], the vessel tracks overwhelm possible small details at the bottom of the Sea of Galilee. In this section, we propose a strategy based on the assumption that the inconsistency between tracks comes mainly from different human and seasonal conditions during the acquisition. Unfortunately, we do not have any record of the weather and the time of the year the data were acquired. We presume that the depth differences between different acquisition tracks must be small and relatively smooth in time. That is why we propose introducing a leaky-integration operator Claerbout (1992) to model these ``secular'' data variations within our inversion scheme.
