Vplot program list, as of Feb 14 1993: All of these programs are self-documenting. (Run them without arguments, input, or output, and they print their documentation.) See {sep,vplot}-distr/test/vplot for EXAMPLES and tests. Utilitites: pldb Converts a (binary) vplot file into an editable ASCII form. plas The inverse of pldb. pstexpen A shell that uses "pspen" and "vppen" to create a stripped postscript file with bounding box information suitable for inclusion in text documents. tube Tries to figure out which "pen" program is suitable for your graphics device, and calls it for you. (The self-doc is the self-doc of the pen it thinks is suitable, not of tube itself.) vp_OverUnderAniso vp_SideBySideIso vp_OverUnderIso vp_Unrotate vp_Overlay vp_Movie vp_SideBySideAniso C-shell scripts for performing various transformations and combinations of vplot files. vp_annotate A perl script for interactively annotating vplot files. Assumes the existence of the SEPlib program "Box". (If there is enough demand I can create a non-SEPlib "box" program.) Filters that are installed by default (if the appropriate system libraries are present): ctekpen Tek 410X family. gigipen DEC REGIS family. lprpen Printronix line printers. rtekpen RasterTek high-resolution color graphics displays vppen The vplot filter for the virtual vplot device. This program, along with plas and pldb, serves as a "poor man's" vplot editor. By using with this program such generic options as erase=o, hshift, vshift, scale, frame=y, xwmin, etc, you can combine plots, move them around, add frames, change their size, clip them, etc, etc, and save the result into a new vplot file. xtpen X Athena Widget Toolkit pen. The best X11 pen program. envipen Envision 215 and 220 color graphics terminals. (Later called Lear Sieglers, I believe.) imagpen Imagen laser printers. pspen Postscript printers. sunpen Suntools. (Not installed by default, you have to uncomment some lines in the GNUmakefile in the filters directory. It compiled under OW2, I'm not sure about OW3.) x11pen Generic X11 pen program. Use xtpen if you can. xvpen Sun's Xview. xtpen is preferred. raspen Generic raster device. Also called "tcprpen" for Tek Color Printers (I believe it actually just writes a kind of GIF file) and "ppmpen" for "portable pix maps". tekpen Tektronix 401X family. (Yes, you CAN plot raster on an old tek 4010... it's just slow, that's all!) xmpen X Motif pen. These last are no longer maintained at Stanford but probably still work, or can be made to work with very little hacking: gpspen For "GPS on a MASSCOMP", whatever that means! ivpen, ivwpen Interviews. newspen Sun NeWS. v80pen 11-inch Versatec plotter model V80 verspen Versatec 7224 plotter
