I defended my Ph.D. on Friday, August 1st, 2014. The title of my thesis is "Wave-equation migration velocity analysis for VTI models with geological and rock physics constraints".
I am working as a postdoctoral associate at MIT with Laurent Demanet.

Research interests

I am broadly interested in exploration geophysics, which includes but not limited to:
  • Seismic wave simulation (Acoustic, anisotropic, elastic)
  • Seismic inversion for structural imaging (Reservoir scale and regional scale)
  • Data processing and denoising (L2 and L1 optimization)
  • Earth model building in data and image space (FWI and WEMVA)
  • Integration of multiple types of datasets (Seismic, rock physics, fluid-flow )
  • Seismic exploration and monitoring for unconventional reservoirs

Thesis topic

The goal of my thesis study is to build a reliable anisotropic subsurface model. Here are a few aspects of my thesis:
  • Efficient anisotropic wave modeling and imaging
  • Image-space wave-equation based anisotropic tomography
  • Constrained inversion by rock physics
  • Inversion results consistent with previous lithological interpretation
