There are several Jewish traditions that Diane and Jon would like you to participate in. One is the burial which will take place at Alta Mesa Cemetery on Arastradero in Palo Alto. And then for the next week, until Saturday night, there will be a gathering at their home [on street address] at 7:00 p.m., for a Shiva minyan. "Shiva" is the Hebrew word for "seven," and there's a tradition of remaining at home and mourning for seven days. And the community comes to gather and shares in a worship service. And during this worship service, there'll be an opportunity for more of you to offer your reflections in a more informal way, so that part of the weaving that we can continue in Jos's memory is to weave together stories from his life and to give the gift of those stories to his family.

The other thing that I would ask you to do, which is not necessarily traditional, but psychological, is to continue to include--those of you who are Jos's buddies--to continue to include Jos's family in your lives and to continue to have conversation about who he has been for you, after the initial mourning period is done, because one of the ways in which his presence will always remain among us is through the sharing of memories.

And so, this part of the service is concluded. Following the burial, there will be a gathering at the Claerbout home, and there will be an opportunity at that point to share, and hug, and continue to weave the web which was begun by this extraordinary young man.
