Dad's fabulous Vermont summer in 2001

In summer of 2001, Dad drove his RV to Vermont. Inside was the aluminum canoe that Andrew wanted. No doubt about it, Andrew and Amy are much closer to a lot of good canoeing than Dad, and they have a lot more pep too. Incidentally, Dad claims to descend from North Africans and this picture seems to provide some support for that claim.

Dad parked his RV in the driveway at Willard Street and mostly worked there with Andrew on his remodeling project BUT... But come the weekend, Amy planned lots of fun! Saturday we went strawberry picking -- organic strawberries! The farmer had thoughtfully spread straw between the rows of strawberries keeping knees clean of us city folk.

Sunday Matthias Schwab and family Pascale, Lucas, and Clara came to Shelburne Farms and a fabulous time was had by all. If Dad ever gets organized, he'll scan some of the pictures from that wonderful day at Shelburne Farms highlighting Lucas and Clara.

After leaving Vermont, Dad went to Lake Michigan to live some weeks with his mother who is aging gracefully. She can't remember what she said five minutes ago, and so repeats herself from time to time, but that does not prevent her from being a sparkling conversationalist. Favorite (repeated) remarks to Dad were,

"When are you expecting to deliver?"     :-)     :-)
and
"Do you think it will be twins?"     :-)     :-)
This picture seems to provide some support for her suspicions.     :-)     :-)
