How to use Draw with xfig

I describe the different menu and buttons by numbering. First coordinate vertical down, second left to right.

Save as fig .. you can use an outside shell to turn the figure into latex or encapsulated postscript. Never save as postscript alone. The save option is under the file menu.
Cm rulers Click on upper right hand corner and choose metric for ruler system. Click on lower left corner to evoke a drawing grid.
Output formats to convert the fig file to various output formats:

fig2dev  -L  latex < in.fig > out.latex (latex commands)
fig2dev  -L  ps   < in.fig > out.ps (postscript)
```
For wide horizontal figures choose portrait under export button. Don't draw anything bigger than your page size. If you do, scale it (menu on your lower left) after grouping the entire drawing (menu on your lower left, button in first row).
To group objects select editing mode (1,1) (objects framed by highlighted square
select object with middle mouse button(see mouse button upper right corner)
finish the selection with right mouse button
modify an object (line thickness, coloring, shading, position)
select editing mode (6,2) (Edit)
click on object corner and fill out the specification sheet
