3-D Seismic real

Elf North Sea 3-D dataset (ps.gz 1399K) (pdf 2341K) (src 4916K)
Vaillant L.
Data recorded in the North Sea (block L7d).
Unocal salt dome (ps.gz 977K) (pdf 876K) (src 2758K)
Mora C. B.
This 3-D reflection seismic data from offshore Louisiana shows a single salt diapir. Two dataset are available which are the stacked and the migrated versions of the data. The 3-D Stack data was provided to SEP by Unocal. In this dataset the first dimension is in-line, the second dimension is cross-line and the third dimension is time. The top left corner of the data (increasing cross-line, decreasing in-lines) is blank meaning that no seismic data was acquired there. The 3-D Migrated data was provided by 3DGeo Development. The dimensions are transposed compared to the stack version: first dimension is depth, second dimension is in-line and the third dimension is cross-line.

SEP passive seismic dataset (ps.gz 700K) (pdf 584K) (src 3671K)
Mora C. B.
This dataset consists of the stacks along four directions (inline, crossline, and two diagonal) of 15 records from a passive seismic experiment Cole (1989b). The original raw data was acquired by SEP in September of 1988. The first dimension on each dataset is time, the second correspond to the four stack directions, the third dimension correspond to different time windows.

SOHO/MDI solar oscillations (ps.gz 236K) (pdf 219K) (src 2403K)
Rickett J.
The dataset consists of a cube of raw velocity data from the Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) instrument aboard the SOHO satellite. The data have been transformed to Cartesian coordinates by projecting high-resolution data from an area approximately 18$^$ square onto a tangent plane. The object in the center of the time-slice (top of cube) is a sun-spot. The sampling spacing is 1 minute on the time-axis and approximately 825 km on the two spatial axes.

3-D Seismic Synthetic

SEG-EAGE salt data (ps.gz 1115K) (pdf 945K) (src 2944K)
Vaillant L.
The SEG-EAGE salt model dataset simulates a narrow-azimuth marine acquisition with 8 streamers. The salt body shows steep flanks and a rough surface on the top, making it a good test-case for accurate 3-D imaging methods. The data presented here is the so-called ``classic'' C3-NA dataset (avaible at http://archive.llnl.gov/SSD/classic/classicSalt.html#salt-c).

Marmousi is a 2-D synthetic dataset generated at the Institut Français du Pétrole (IFP). The geometry of this model is based on a profile through the North Quenguela trough in the Cuanza basin Versteeg (1993). The geometry and velocity model were created to produce a complex seismic data which requiere advanced processing techniques to obtain a correct earth image. The Marmousi dataset was used for the workshop on practical aspects of seismic data inversion at the 52nd EAEG meeting in 1990.

The data consists of two common-offset (1 m) lines The antennas were on grass and the flat reflector is the water-table. Near surface consists of soil and glacial deposits. The many surface scatterers are probably large pebbles or clusters of large grains. For more details see /data/fun/michigan-gpr/README.

Non-seismic synthetic

Textures (ps.gz 181K) (pdf 197K) (src 927K)
Brown M.
Texture synthesis has been a recurring theme this year at SEP Brown (1999); Claerbout and Brown (1999); Claerbout (1998); here you can learn about the textures used by the authors. Some real data examples were shown in the aforementioned papers, but I show here only the synthetic, non-seismic textures. The real data can comes from Claerbout 1998, and is located at /home/kana/book/gee/Data/.
