Conclusions

We presented a method of spectral factorization that is based on Newton's iterations for square roots. The method is very efficient from a computational point of view and can be applied to both auto and cross spectra. We presented a simple example of 2-D deconvolution on a helix.

Given its efficiency and simplicity, the Wilson-Burg method has the potential to surpass the Kolmogoroff method as the best method of spectral factorization. Special care must be given to the analysis of the factorizable or non-factorizable functions.
