SYNTHETIC DATASETS

A synthetic dataset can never fully capture the complexity of field data, and it is this complexity that causes many of the problems in the cross-equalization process. Synthetics, however, can provide useful testing ground for algorithm development, as they allow small parts of a larger problem to be tackled independently.

This paper is concerned with the problems of bandwidth equalization and phase matching. By working with synthetic data, these parts of the problem can be removed from the rest of the cross-equalization process.
