Personal Devices

/[your-name] is your own personal space. It is a place for you to store executables, data, and anything large that you plan to keep for more than a few weeks.

Something you should do in your personal device directory structure is make space for executables. You should create a directory /[your-name]/bin and then under this directory create the sub-directories all (for executables that are machine independent, such as shell scripts and perl, awk, and sed programs); HP700 (Hewlett-Packard computers); I586 (PC running Linux); SGI64 (Silicon-Graphics with 64-bit OS); SUN4 (SUN running 4.xx OS); and SOLARIS (SUN running Solaris).
