As a solution, SEP has developed a framework for electronic documents: a Unix file system that is organized so that a reader can regenerate all of a document's research results from a minimum set of source files using a few simple commands. This reproducibility is distinct from other forms of interactivity such as setting or changing a parameter of a particular process. The reproducibility of a document only comprises the ability to remove and subsequently reproduce the document's result files.
