Velocity vs. temperature

The core samples were found to be very sensitive to pressure and temperature conditions. Vp decreases of 10-15% were measured for temperature increases from 75 $^{\circ}$F to 250 $^{\circ}$F at fixed overburden pressures of 430-600 psia for samples in the upper and lower P formation, and the K formation (Figure 11). Above 250 $^{\circ}$F, the P-wave velocity decreases a further 25% out to 350 $^{\circ}$F since the water component vaporizes to steam.
