We have shown how two-dimensional lateral-prediction filtering can provide an improvement over the results of FX-decon and we have shown how FX-decon is equivalent to a two-dimensional filter with a long length in time. We have shown some of the effects of the different configurations of two-dimensional filters and how we built different applications based on the filter actions. We are just starting to understand the possible applications of multi-dimensional filters. They appear to have a flexibility that other techniques do not. The possibility of choosing a filter shape to control the action of the filter may allow many new applications within the seismic industry. Three applications mentioned here have been implemented; many more are likely.
