Limitations

Both formulations (Hudson and S&M) are valid in a regime of small volume density of cracks and a small crack aspect ratio. Our modeling examples fall within those limits. However, the Austin Chalk may in reality still have a higher volume density of cracks than what we show in our examples. Our results should be taken as a lower crack-density bound estimate.
