Introduction

Notions of randomness are not new in exploration seismology - white noise has been with us since the genesis of digital signal processing - but it is likely that they will find increasing use as we move from a deterministic to a probabilty basis for seismic data processing.

In this Short Note I describe the desirable properties of computer-generated random sequences, and present some simple type algorithms.
