This step evaluates the spatial operators using a spatially smooth stiffness-density model (C₁₁, C₃₃, C₁₃, C₅₅, and $\rho$). It is worthwhile to note that all spatial derivatives of the elastic parameters are calculated only once, instead of for each time step of each shot record.
