Conclusions

The two way elastic phase shift modeling scheme that I have presented can be used to efficiently calculate synthetic seismograms for layered anisotropic media. The scheme is closely related to reflectivity methods but differs in that it takes a stepwise approach to modeling the wave propagation. Although this may be less efficient it allows the user select which parts of the total wavefield they wish to see in the output data. It does this without any simplifying assumptions (e.g. no conversions) that would lead to incorrect amplitude information.
