ABSTRACTFocusing-effect AVO (FEAVO) can be eliminated by migrating with a velocity model obtained by Wave-Equation Migration Velocity Analysis (WEMVA). For this specific problem, WEMVA requires the extraction of an image perturbation that contains all and only the FEAVO effects. Such an image perturbation can be generated by using a ``discriminate-focus-filter-mask'' strategy. A simplified version of the first step of this approach was implemented with acceptable results. A simple, effective and cheap FEAVO detector was also conceived and implemented. |
