CONCLUSION

The effect of velocity uncertainty on reflector positioning is assessed. Random numbers are colored using geologic dip information. These random numbers are used to select move-out descriptors which are in turn used in a reflection tomography problem. Initial results show that the methodology works as expected, but the variation when starting from such an erroneous initial velocity model causes large differences in the various image realizations. More meaningful results can be obtained when the estimated velocity is closer to the true velocity.
