ABSTRACTCosmetic processes, the use of different parameters in standard seismic data processing in order to improve the appearance of the data, are generally not considered in the mathematical formulation of migration algorithms, even though they are physically and mathematically related to the wave propagation process. The inclusion of causality and viscosity in phase-shift migration as a damping factor will take care of these ``superficial'' features and numerical instability due to evanescent energy. |
