| There are two ways in and out of Aspen by road: the hard way and the easy way. The easy path cuts down from Glenwood Springs, while hard one surmounts arguably the most rugged country in Colorado. From Leadville, head south on Colorado Highway 24, then west on Colorado Highway 82. This photo was taken near 12,000 foot plus Independence Pass, looking east. The monolithic form of La Plata Peak fills the far center of the panorama. Mount Elbert, Colorado's highest, is just across the valley from La Plata. |
